Dum dum da dum
The recent news about all four original members of REM playing at a friend's wedding inspired me to ask a couple of friends who they'd have at theirs, if they could have anyone, living or dead, in any combination. Kitty wants only John Doe as both wedding singer and groom.
Here's my list: Beatles Beck REM (Pylon - but only if it was a small guest list of people who would like them!) Paul McCartney solo Wings with Prima sitting in on vocals for Linda Jackson Five, early 70s style Marvin Gaye Gladys Knight and the Pips and some jazz band to open, to make my dad happy! Also maybe Rufus Wainwright. Here's Nancy Drew's: Wings with Prima. I want them to do Uncle Albert. Earth Wind and Fire, early 70s powerhouse group w/Maurice White. Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band Nina Simone Sylvester (disco guy) Astor Piazzola Jackson Five for sure! And Michael Jackson in the Off the Wall time. Woody Herman Benny Goodman Sarah Vaughan David Bowie, ashes to ashes time period The Ides of March to sing their one hit (I think) "VEHICLE" as in "I'm your vehicle baby, I'll take you anywhere you want to go..." To which I added Nillsson and the Guess Who (to sing her favorite song, "Undun," as in "She's! Come! Un....dunnnnnn. Whoa whoa whoa oh oh oh oh bum bum bada!") Who's playing at your dream wedding, people?
