Just another manic Monday
First of all, Nancy Drew has launched her diary! Go now, go read cracklaugh--you'll love the juicy colors and snappy writing. Now Nancy D's intention is to compose her thoughts in essay form, not necessarily to "build community," so don't pester her for rings and surveys and such.
Certain other people think they deserve name checks in this here diary, even though they don't read it. Oh, hi Noisy! Hi Mrs. Parker! I didn't see you there!
Yesterday afternoon, while blessed Addie was delivering birthday flowers to my sister in New Jersey, I visited with Harry the Greek, the wife of Harry the Greek, and the aforementioned Parkers. It's not easy being the only single person in the room, I tell ya, especially when the kids are there too. Although I must say, I like the funny little boys of Harry the Greek and his wife, especially now that they've developed their own shticks. When Spam was little, they trained him to pick out Susan Sontag from the bookshelf. Now he does his own magic tricks. Noisy and Mrs. Parker's little baby, Beef, is just gorgeous, and what an ass on that kid!
Mostly I've been spending hours and hours reading Web diaries of super-Christian college kids from North Carolina. They have interesting belief systems. It's okay to threaten violence (beheading, castration) to people who let them down (Chic-fil-A managers, college registrars) but holy, holy holy when the man comes around. Also okay to refer to your car as a "ghettomobile."
Also poring over the Paul McCartney and Wings book that Harry the Greek gave me. Ooow! Harry the Greek and I are co-founders of the local Wings fan club, and co-editors of its nonexistent newsletter, "Bright as a Penny." The book is fabulous, and the interviews are by Paul and Linda's daughter Mary, you know every word is true! (omg lol rofl j/k etc)
Right. Today I'm going to look for more work. How the hell am I surviving?
