B&W

Idea for home-decorating show: A celebrity "While You Were Out," hosted by Gen. Tommy Frank, at the decimated home of Saddam Hussein. Iraqi neighbors run in and out of the palace with brocade couches, in the wacky speeded-up style that "Trading Spaces" uses when the neighbors carry out the box spring. Hunky Marine carpenters shrug and look the other way. One Marine carpenter tries a bit of decorating himself with an American flag and a big statue of the homeowner.

Last night Donna Puma, Giuliano, and I went to a photography auction to benefit the American Liver Foundation. We went kee-razy and bid and bid and bid. One woman hitched herself to Donna Puma and totally co-opted her bids, racing back and forth to pencil in a new bid every time Donna Puma raised. Get your own aesthetic, lady!

Donna Puma bought the photo above, I got a big pinhole photograph of a path in Rio de Janeiro, and Giuliano got a tiny print of a sad square building and a color print of a serene windowsill and radiator. I also got my own glass of wine sloshed on me three times by various drunk post-college professional women crashing into me with their big elbows.

It's the middle of April. Why am I wearing snowflake socks and a long-underwear top?
