The Hounds of Summer, by Mary McCarthy (short stories) Alice in Wonderland, Norton Critical Edition The Complete Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm The shorter of the two tall architects purchased a round collection of Bradleyuvia, including a Big Boy coin bank and some crazy patches that say things like "I don't like you either" and "Poverty begins at home." The taller of the two tall architects bought a box of poker chips and a vintage board game called "Blacks and Whites," in which you role-play members of each race. Whew. That should lead to some interesting evenings by the fire. Also a CD of the soundtrack to "The Virgin Suicides." We saw a minor dog fight, met a small Asian toddler named Bridget whose brush-cut hair stood up a good four inches, and in general had a fine time. Particularly loyal friends of Al Bradley were there too: Harry the Greek, the wife of Harry the Greek, and their two funny kids, who left with a Speed Racer video and some novelty eyeglasses.
