Ca Plane Pour K

So I've been reading about this performance by Ronald Isley singing songs by Burt Bacharach - and if that doesn't sound fabulous enough, apparently he's also doing songs co-written by Bacharach and Tonio K.

Tonio K's album "Life in the Foodchain" was a favorite among my geeky, proto-punk, college newspaper crowd. We'd drink beers on Friday afternoons and sing the song "H-A-T-R-E-D" at the top of our lungs. "I'm full of H-A-T-R-E-D! I'm bitter! And annoyed!" How many incidents of locker-kicking did that one inspire, I wonder?

Here are lyrics from the album's title song:

because it's dog eat dog

and it's the cat and mouse

it's cut the cake and grab a plate

and hope it goes around

it's do or die

it's down to push and shove

because everybody's hungry

and there isn't quite enough

But what in the world are those Bacharach/K songs like? Does anyone know?

Wow, is it windy tonight. The windows are rattling. Very Wuthering Heights.

Next time: My inexpressible love for Plastic Bertrand.
